The year is 2010. Earth Day is celebrating forty years and is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year.

Environmental awareness has come a long way in recent years. Awareness in alternative energy, global warming, waste management, alternative fuels and more, shows that people are concerned and wnat to do something about it.

Waste management, for example, is more than garbage collection, it now places a primary focus on recycling and processing used materials into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials.

Recycling is a major component of modern waste reduction and is a vital part of what Earth Day stands for.
