Don't run your dishwasher if it is less than totally full. A half load uses the exact same amount of water and energy as a full one. When you do run the dishwasher, make sure to use the energy saving setting, which will allow your dishes to air-dry.
Use electric heaters minimally in the winter. Instead, wear multiple layers, slippers and socks, or even consider investing in a stove or fireplace. In addition, this is beneficial to your health, as cooler air keeps your airways from getting too dry, allowing you to breathe easier while sleeping.
Dressing warmly can help you reduce your energy usage. You will feel 2 degrees warmer with a light sweater, and 4 degrees warmer with a heavy one. Add a hat, scarf and gloves for even more warmth. You don't have to wear a t-shirt and shorts in your home, so dress warmly and save money!
