When it comes to living an eco friendly life, there are plenty of choices to make allowing us to decrease our emissions and improve the condition of planet earth.
Firstly, we can all choose to recycle. Whilst council recycling facilities are improving all the time, there is still plenty of room for us to do more if we are willing to make the effort. Recycling can range from saving your potato peelings to use as compost in the garden to using websites such as Free Cycle, which encourages people to give their second hand goods away, reducing emissions caused by excessive manufacture. Next time there’s something that you need, whether it’s a bicycle or a new phone, you might like to check it out – not only does it reduce waste, it could also save you money.
Secondly, whilst cars are often a necessity of modern life many of us use them more than we need to. Walking and cycling, where possible, are the best alternatives, with public transport following in second place. If the facilities and options are available, why not take advantage of them? You might even get fitter in the process.
If you like to incorporate your ethics concerning the protection of the environment into all aspects of your everyday life then no doubt you will be interested to learn about the most environmentally friendly possibilities that are available on the market when it comes to your home insurance this year. You might be surprised to know that in investing into the safety of your house and home you could also be investing in a healthier future for our earth.
The Co-Operative Insurance were the first major business to become carbon positive. That is to say, they now offset 110% of their emissions. Each Co-Operative Insurance office recycles over eight times as much as the average office and they like to support ecological campaigns, such as those belonging to Friends of the Earth and other important environmental charities. If you have been looking for more ways in which to help the environment this year, you could think about switching to an eco friendly insurance policy when your home insurance next comes up for renewal.
